I didn’t really do human resources; my major was industrial relations. Industrial relations is more about the overall employment relationship and the actors which contribute to that process, while human resource management is more concerned with the management of an organisation’s day-to day needs.
The one or two HR courses that I completed were a bit dull but extremely straightforward. It is mostly just common sense stuff (with some super-easy theoretical content.) I wouldn’t say HR was “interesting,” but it is an easy course to do, and “people management skills” looks pretty good on your resume, so I’d go for it.
