Anonymous asked: are you a liberal?

I’m a social liberal because I believe in crazy things like equality and leaving people to make their own choices based upon their own individual and unique circumstances (think abortion, euthanasia, etc.) But I believe the same thing in terms of fiscal policies - I think that people are best left alone without intervention by the state; however, there is a clear role for government to play in several key areas like education, health, transport, etc. I don’t think it betrays my “leave people alone” belief to concurrently believe in a world-class health system and an education system that produces a highly skilled and educated workforce (or believing that government has a big role to play in that process.)

So, I would probably classify myself as Left on social issues, but centre-Right on economic issues.
